VEED : Apollo app (Desktop Flash Video Player)
I thought I would share my 0.1 alpha .flv player. Original visual by Tim Wong, and tweeked by me as I built out the player.
Future releases, I plan to enable drag and drap (when Apollo supports it), screen resize, scrubbing, volume controls, and hopefully tie-ins to some of the video service api’s like Google and YouTube. (If I can get access to the actualy .flvs, and not the .html page or .swf that holds them)
Right now, it plays .flvs. That’s it. Enjoy.
UPDATE: It seems some are having trouble downloading the .air file, which doesn’t surprise me really. Here it is .zipped. Hopefully that works, please comment if not!

NOTE : You need Adobe Apollo installed to run this .app.

I would love to try this app but when I click on the link, I get a page of gibberish text. Not sure why it’s not downloading. Same with when I try to “Save Linked file to the desktop” By the way, I’m using Safari.

This application could not be installed or launched (AIR file H:\downloads\VEED.air is invalid: not an AIR file).

Thanks all, I’m not sure what the problem is. I think the .air file might be downloading as text on Mac OS. It downloaded fine for me in testing on XP. Ill see if .zip helps.
Thanks!

Great skin!
Only one suggestion, when browsing for a file, when you go through lots and lots of directories, the box becomes far too small to see the filenames.
Overall, great job!

Totally. I’ll expand it some. My hope is to get drag and drop enabled as soon as Apollo 1.0 is released, which will avoid the issue all together.

hi.
See Ben’s “Apollo Released” post and follow the Adobe link to get the Apollo runtime.
After installing the runtime.. double-click the .air file to install an app.
To uninstall you can also double-click the same .air file and choose “more options”.

Hi, I included your application in my list of AIR applications on my blog at http://offlinetech.blogspot.com/. I hope you don’t mind.

I love the GUI would be nice if it could play QT and view image files though

Could you please update the app to the Adobe AIR? There’s not so much to do, you mostly change mx:WindowedApplication to mx:ApolloApplication container and update the application.xml file. Some details can be found here: Apollo to AIR migration.
